Tomatina Alameda is hosting a Dine & Donate fundraising event on Wednesday, January 23 to support Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter. They’re donating 20 percent of their take from food and drink sales that day to FAAS, which runs the shelter. To participate, diners must present a copy of the event flyer, which is attached at the bottom of this blog post. Tomatina is at 1338 Park Street, and their hours Wednesday are from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Ruby Bridges Elementary School’s annual Seedlings concert, a benefit to support the school’s annual science camp trip for fifth graders, is being held at 7 p.m. on January 26 at Kofman Auditorium. Admission to the concert, which features Terrance Kelly and the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Oakland Interfaith Youth Choir, African Drums and Dance and Ruby Bridges Fifth Graders and Noon Tunes, is $15. Tickets can be purchased by using the order form attached below; for more information, call 748-4006 or email Heather Figueroa at hfigueroa@alameda.k12.ca.us.
