See firsthand the impact Girls Inc. of the Island City's Eureka! program has on Middle and High School students at Eureka!thon.
Eureka!thon is an event to see first-hand what teens in our Eureka! Teen Achievement Program have learned during this summer's intensive 4-week summer program, which focused on biology, chemistry, physics, design and information technology.
Eureka! is a multi-year national program for girls to explore career and post-secondary education options by combining an intensive 4-week summer program that focuses on science, technology, math, sports and personal development with educational and experiential opportunities during the school year.
Eureka! builds girls’ confidence and skills, prepares them for college entrance, and fosters their career interest in often overlooked STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields.
Girls enter the program the summer before their eighth or ninth grade years and are from schools in Alameda and Oakland. This year girls are in the second year of the program. Girls Inc. of the Island City launched the program last summer and next summer hopes to add another cohort of girls.
